Do forgive me for not being able to speak this language. You sound very enthusiastic, though.

Especially if you’re the final gym leader and you see how far their trust is in one another! Battling like a test to see how close you are with you pokemon. The way I see it, you can pass that test even if you lose the battle.
You think so? [smiles.] Brendan encouraged me to go too. It’s gonna be a bit lonely though, since I won’t be traveling with him or Wally. Then again, there’s my pokemon, so I guess it won’t be all that lonely!
Lucario? I’ve only heard of those probably once or twice! What kind of pokemon is he? I’m glad you’re having fun! It’s easier to do something when you enjoy it. [nods.]
Yup! I’ve always been better at handling them than any other type of pokemon. I guess it’s mostly because my dad would let me play with the water types at the lab the most or something! Personally, I’d actually want a mix gym like a friend of mine in Kanto, but water would be my next option~
Yes, exactly. *smiles* It’s good to see another understand that.
And yes, I do think so. And while it can be lonely without those you knew, you can meet new people, form new bonds, and have a place to come back to. Exploring is fun, but it can be that much better when you know there’s someone who will welcome you back afterwards.
Oh yes, Lucario. *he motions to the pokemon at his side* She’s a steel/fighting type, and one of only a few pokemon able to use Aura. She’s been my loyal partner since I was a child, and we do all our training together. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere without her. *smiles as he scratches behind her ears*
Water-types can be quite versatile, and no one says you have to give up your current friends to make new ones. Building trust and learning how to fight with new friends would be an interesting experience, too.

That’s true. Wallace was our champion and still is considering Brendan hasn’t taken the name for himself yet. He chooses to take the title when he’s seventeen which is in a couple of months. It kinda makes me a bit sad though because I won’t be able to see him as often.
It’s sorta why I wanna travel to the other regions first and then try to be a gym leader. I really love traveling, but I really like testing out trainers to see how far they’ve gone in their journey. Just something about watching a trainer and their pokemon strengthen their bond in battling is something that gets to me, you know? Well, I hope you have fun in trying to reach your goal too! I was thinking of going back to trainer school and refresh the basics before I study to be a gym leader. I’ve always liked the water gym in Sootopolis City!
*nods* Yes, I know precisely what you mean. It’s heartening to see trainers and their pokemon working together, forging unbreakable bonds and taking on challenges. The trust between the both must be absolute, and sometimes a battle is the only way to see that.
Travelling the world, meeting new people and exploring new places, that’s what makes people, and pokemon, grow. I highly encourage it. You and your pokemon both would benefit from the experience, not to mention have fun along the way.
Why, thank you. Sometimes Lucario and I have so much fun, we forget we’re supposed to be training. Though I suppose it’s better to enjoy it instead of think of it as a chore.
Oh, a water gym? Will you be specializing in water types, then?

A steel type gym leader, huh? I’m pretty sure we don’t have any of those in Hoenn. It’s the first time I’ve ever heard of a father and a son holding different gyms in the same region though. Oh really? Kinda sounds a bit dangerous. It kinda makes me wonder what’s hidden bellow Hoenn.
[giggles.] It’s no problem~ And yup, I’m a trainer! But, so far, I’ve been helping my dad by filling up my pokedex for him to study. I actually wanted to a professor like him at first, but I kinda wanna be a gym leader myself now!
Ah, but you do have Steven. Though I’d heard he’s no longer Champion…
A gym leader is an admirable position, though it often ties you down to one spot. I’d think even taking a personal vacation would be difficult because it inconveniences trainers looking to take the League challenge. I’m following in my family’s footsteps, so a position as a gym leader isn’t something I’d be able to do, though Byron has pressed the issue many times. It takes dedication, hard work, and perseverance, and if that is what you’d like to do, by all means, go for it!

[laughs] Don’t worry; my lips are sealed~
A gym leader huh? Lemme guess; a rock type gym leader? Hehe…his dad sounds like he has “Iron” in his name. They sound like they’d form some kind of team and completely dig out the place for stones and fossils and stuff! Wally, Brendan, and I lasted about fifteen minutes each with Steven before we knocked out!~
Right on all counts! Not only is Byron a steel-type master, but the both of them have, in fact, dug out a couple mines and much of the Sinnoh Underground. One can find all types of items down there, from gems to evolutionary stones to fossils. It can be quite fun to attempt to dig something out before the whole wall collapses and destroys your progress.
Oh, I beg your pardon. I seem to have been around them too long if I’m starting to pick up their habits. Do forgive me. *visibly fishes around for a new topic*
Are you a trainer yourself? Or are you interested in another field of study?

I think it’s interesting how you only choose to talk to Flint.
I don’t only talk to Flint. It just seems that not many others are interested in talking to me.
Yup! I wish I could’ve seen the battle myself, though! My dad and I were just a bit too late.
We sorta…fell asleep half way through the story.
Everyone was just super tired after celebrating, I guess we couldn’t help but just knock out! [smiles.] Wallace was there too and Steven got a bit angry, but it was fun~ Roark? Is he from Sinnoh too? Rocks and fossils, huh? I bet they could talk for hours!
Oh my. I can only imagine. Though I can agree with the sentiment. Ah, but don’t tell him I said that.

Oh, yes. Roark is a gym leader here in Sinnoh, along with his father Byron. The whole family is obsessed with excavation in some form or another. It’s quite entertaining. And while I consider both my friends, I don’t think I could last an hour in the same room.
